West Coast Jazz

West Coast Jazz is a classic new show featuring, composers, arrangers, writers, musicians and singers mostly from the West Coast and how they were influenced.

Our Host, Vaughn Norberg was born and raised in Los Angeles. His father, Carl Norberg played with Glenn Miller, while in the Airforce, and Vaughn Monroe, Vaughn ‘s Godfather. He remembers bouncing on his knee when they would come over to practice their music.

Vaughn, started playing clarinet in grade school, then switched to tenor and baritone sax in High School. He and his father used to hang out with members of Johnny Carson band after the show. Vaughn met many well known artists and frequented many local clubs as he entered college. There he was tutored by such artists as Gerald Wilson, John Coltrane and others. Vaughn studied Industrial technology with a minor in music.

The show will feature Jazz artists during the 50’s through the 70’s. Vaughn will provide short introductions and stories on each and then play a cut or two that mostly represents the artist’s style and techniques. Give us a listen!
